Lifeguards
The Beginning

We all know how shitty the music scene is becoming, and I think we can all agree that something needs to be done about it.

The only organization I know of that promotes things such as hope and love is TWLOHA. Is there really only one known organization in the scene that seeks to improve the lives of people who are suffering?

I want to go beyond that. This whole scene is suffering, and something needs to be done about it.

The world doesn’t need another clothing company covered in neon, or more trendy bracelets with hip phrases. The world needs people who care about other people.

Here’s what I’m proposing: starting an organization that promotes the values and morals the music scene once upheld. Things such as respect, love, inspiration, determination, hope, and fighting for what you believe in.

So here’s my idea:

website - explains our mission, why we’re doing what we’re doing, the people behind the scenes
blog - interviews with bands or specific members of bands about a) the current music scene b) music they turn to for inspiration or guidance and c) any actions they’re taking to promote change
apparel - clothing/accessories that have motivational messages

I figure if I can get 20-30 minutes with a band (or member of a band), I can ask the necessary questions, do a mini shoot of who I’m interviewing, and post it all on the blog/website so kids can look up and read about who their favorite artists turn to for encouragement, and what they’re doing to help the community.

I want people to become interested (more so than they are now) in supporting and wearing apparel that has positive messages on it. Promote things like love, hope, etc. I realize this is already a trend, but that’s just it.. it’s just a trend. I want it to become more than that.. I want people to do this because feel it’s right, not because they think it’s popular.

This has all been racing around in my head for the past few days.. and I realize my thoughts and ideas are not very organized. I wanted to get some sort of feedback though before I started seriously putting this all together.

So please, any questions/comments/concerns you have, I would love to hear them.
